The innovations to be implemented

The innovations to be implemented

1. Hybrid (solar-gas) drying of agricultural products

This innovation is a collaborative experience in solar drying specific to saffron. It aims at characterising saffron drying practices, adaptating the solar dryer to saffron conditions for initial drying trials.

This will lead to the co-design of a hybrid (solar-gas) drying prototype that can be used for a wide range of products. The prototype will be tested in real conditions.

2. Smart irrigation: Soil moisture sensors (automatic irrigation control system)

The partners already launched the development of monitoring indicators and preidentified the farms. The HSTI equipment will soon be set up at the sites.

3. Promotion of agroecological products in short supply chains: Establishment of a farmers' market for agroecological products in Ksar Tafilelt + connection with a school canteen

This innovation includes the mapping of producers, the analysis of consumer motivation, the development of a charter of commitment for pioneering producers and consumers and the identification of the site for market implementation.

4. KSolar kit for water pumping

The initial priority choice is the installation of a collective Albian borehole for irrigation. Association of irrigators have been identified. The feasibility analysis is being performed at technical, financial and institutional levels.

The installation will be co-financed in partnership with the association and project donations.

5. Decentralised system for treating and reusing domestic wastewater in Ksar Tafilelt (Supplementing the existing system with tertiary treatment and reuse trials)

To co-design of tertiary treatment, partners performed a comparison of several proposals from the parties involved (Amidoul Foundation, Envirostep company and researchers). A consensus has been reached on a system based on local materials and natural solar UV treatment. The partners are in charge of selectioning crops for the REUSE experiment, defining the experimental protocol, and monitoring indicators and water and soil analysis requirements. This inovation will be combined with other solutions (solar, smart irrigation, etc.).

6. Experimental organic waste recovery plant in Ksar Tafilelt

This innovation is realised in partnership with Amidoul Foundation and izitopia start-up. Partners realised an assessment of needs for station layout and equipment, and identified farmers and fish farmers to test larvae and/or biofertiliser. This innovation will be combined with solar drying solution (applied to larvae).

7. Valorisation of margines in the composting of organic residues

Patners started to identify the stakeholders to engage: oil mill and compost producer. They assessed the equipment and material requirements and defined an experimental protocol.
